This is the 5th and final installment of my series about my work on the RAMMYs InFocus Photography Project. An introduction to the project and links to previous installments can be found here, and this final post will look at my night at Table as well as the progression of my work throughout the entire project. I shot nearly 3k frames at 6 different locations over the span of one month for my aspect of the project and I found that the repetition of shooting in so many similar environments in such a short period of time really pushed my work & refined aspects of my technique.

RAMMYs InFocus Part 4: Trummer's on Main
I didn’t really know what to expect when I made my way to Trummer’s on Main, a behemoth of a restaurant located in the quaint looking town of Clifton, Virginia. I did know from a bit of research that Clifton, Virginia played host to a number of historically significant moments throughout America's history and that the restaurant space itself appeared to photograph very well.

RAMMYs InFocus Part 3: Rocklands BBQ
My day at Rocklands was simply all about BBQ Porn (I don’t know if that’s a trending hashtag yet, but it should be) and that was my intention from the get-go.

RAMMYs InFocus Part 2: Toki Underground
My day at Toki Underground was typical of pretty much any shoot in that it presented a pretty major change in plans. The original framework for the day was to start with the staff around 10:00am as they prepped the restaurant for the day’s lunch service, followed by a portrait of founder & head chef Erik Yang with additional photos of a few menu favorites during the slow hours between lunch and dinner rushes. Then came the last minute email: “Erik won’t be available tomorrow afternoon so can you be ready to take his portrait right at 10am?”

RAMMYs InFocus Part 1: Right Proper Brewing
When I now hear Right Proper Brewing, I immediately think “family” after the day I spent photographing its staff and operations. I have never seen such a tight knit crew of people that cared so much about each other and their restaurant. Everyone was on board and everyone seemed to have each other’s back.

Tight Deadlines: An intro to the RAMMYs InFocus Project
It was only a few short months ago that I started to shoot food & beverage photos. Brandon Wetherbee, editor of BrightestYoungThings asked if I wanted to check out the media preview of Bar Dupont's Fall Cocktail menu (holy warmth) with him and grab some photos. I hadn't really done any food & bev work before but I decided to check it out anyway. I had a pretty good time and figured out the pace of the work pretty quickly; listen to the bartender introduce the cocktail in question, grab some photos of him or her making it, figure out a complementary composition for whatever color the drink is and the glass it's served in and then drink away.
