Marelli NYC Workshop Report Out, Physical Exhaustion, The Mission Ahead

I'm sitting back at my desk in Washington, DC thinking back about the weekend I spent in NYC attending an Adam Marelli Photography Workshop and I can think is "Wow, that's a lot to internalize and man I need a new pair of shoes." I think another pair of slip on Vans have officially bitten the dust, as the repercussions of numerous miles covered this weekend on NYC streets and sidewalks are sending an interesting bit of pain up the left side of my body.

There will be a more thorough report out of the workshop itself, the philosophies and insights imparted, the wonderful people that took part and maybe a few of the images. This workshop was project based and participants were pushed to develop a 'concept' for the weekend's shooting sessions as opposed to the anything that looks cool approach that many of us employ, so it will be interesting to see whether I was successful or not in these endeavors.

At the minimum, this weekend was the catalyst for a couple small scale DC projects that I can work on over the summer and it was great to finally meet Adam. His approach to dissecting and communicating the techniques of The Masters and their influences has been my main guiding light over the past 3-4 years and I highly recommend his work. His treatments of Alfred Eisenstaedt or Cartier-Bressons Surreaslist Manifesto would be great places to start.
